Julia Price decided to become a silversmith while at secondary school in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales. In l987 she pursued her dream when she accepted an apprenticeship with the master craftsman Fred Pearce, of Pearce Design Studio in New Hampshire , USA.

Returning to Australia in l989 she continued her studies in Sydney with the well-known Silversmith Valerie Aked. She began to receive commissions for her jewellery and for other silver objects as her skills grew.

Now, from her studio Julia continues to craft many individually designed pieces in sterling silver often incorporating wood from the trees around her and other metals such as gold, titanium, copper and brass. Julia's work is influenced and inspired by the ever changing landscape around her.
